This year's Bowls Business League was another great success for both business and pleasure. An annual event, the tournament provides an opportunity for like-minded individuals to network and build valuable business connections, in line with the community's values in supporting local livelihoods. On top of that, the whole family is welcome, with a jumping castle to keep the kids entertained. It's not all business, it's also about camaraderie and indulging in some friendly competition on the greens, as well as a drink or three and good grub from the clubhouse.
What a great sport! Tournament participants were seen indulging in humorous banter, cracking jokes, and sharing a good laugh. It was heartwarming to witness the sense of community that developed among everyone. The energy heightened from days of polite practice to battling it out for prizes during the rankings week of the competition. The atmosphere became electric, with teammates and spectators cheering on their fellow team members and favourite teams.
The pristine Hermanus Bowls Club with its immaculate lawns can be found in the heart of Hermanus, within the suburb of Northcliff, opposite the Hermanus Primary School. With a backdrop of magnificent mountains and surrounded by large trees, players were treated to spectacular sunsets on the less rainy days.
The unusually British weather didn't hold anyone back, with competition commencing through sunshine and drizzle... until Friday. A torrential downpour stopped the ball in its tracks as fields were waterlogged. After a week of practice and four days of competing, the tournament came to an end.
The president of the club, Hannes Nel, invited Paul Kruger, Licensee of Seeff Hermanus, to hand out the prizes and trophies at prize giving. After speeches, cheers and laughter in the clubhouse, everyone enjoyed a social braai and good music to end off an incredible tournament.
As always, the Bowls Business League tournament proved to be a successful blend of business and pleasure, with participants experiencing the best of both. The event was a testament to the power of sport in bringing people together and fostering a sense of community. It is safe to say that everyone who attended the tournament took back with them memories that they will cherish and the desire to do it all again next year. This year saw an increase in participation to full capacity with 42 teams competing in the Seeff Hermanus Business Bowling League.
Seeff Hermanus is proud to be the headline sponsor of this heartwarming annual event that showcases the beauty and charm of this quaint town with its strong sense of community. Together, we can accomplish great things in this bountiful town we call home.
